What roles does digital media have in facilitating student learning and engagement

The aim in the video was spot the digital media plays an important role in education. My focus on this topic was directed at what roles does digital media have and how student uses social media in the process of learning. Furthermore, I looked at what the benefits of digital media learning for students as well as teachers who are uses these methods in the process of teaching. I did this work based on various academic scholar resources. During my research, I went through many interesting aspects of so called digital education and its relevant research in the world. To show reference and original article of quotes, I provided reference list on the final clips of video. I did this because I wanted to make sure that I was using these information appropriate. In addition, I also mentioned the name of authors within the video as well as the journal article that related to content. I was to ensure to referencing correctly and giving the academic supports for my presentation.

This was the first video that I ever created and I aware of how difficulty it was. Some issues included how to use the editing software and how to presented in video in best way were made me spend lots of time on this work. Heading into Creative Commons Licenses, I did not to using images by other people. When it came to short videos and photographies, I filmed and created by myself on VUE app because I wanted it to looks funny and better. While the task of creating our own video, which I had to attempt to be creative, included make my own content and editing many resources. When I edited one of the clips of the video, I could not add the quotes in the clips. The content of video could seem unacademic due to the principle of referencing. After trying about four to five times I finally added the texted in the right position.

Despite this assignment was difficult, but it was also interesting and quite challenge. I learned how to contributed a clear content of video and made a creatively projects. In addition, through the process of filming video, I learned how important it is to express my opinions while I was talking. For example, some words was changing while I was talking although I prepared lots of time before I presented. It probably because I was quite nervous especially faced the camera when I was presenting. Before I did this research, I did not digital media affected many aspects of our life included education. When I finish my work, I realized how does digital technologies shifting the way we communicate, think and learn in the virtual world.

Overall, it was a good experience and a very creative one. At first, I thought it would be more easier than a 2000 words essay. However, a 7 minutes video, creating contents and editing musics are more work to do. I felt quite accomplishment about doing my first video. It is nice to use our creativity thoughts in the unit. Hope you enjoy the video.

My boarder online activity and engagement

My overall media activity with the unit during this trimester needs to improved. As an international students, I have to admit that I did not use much these social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Blogs. Because in China, we have our social media platforms and we prefer to use these social media sites. However, when I doing this unit and participate in these activities, I get in touch with some new social media platforms that communicate to other people. Moreover, it helps me to meet some new friends includes some local friends. As a media and communicate student, learn how to sharing ideas and using media to communicate with other people is important. I will try to improve it and take a step further in study.
